If you’re working in the education sector in Aotearoa New Zealand, you’re eligible to sign up for the Gold Star programme.

Gold Star was designed with educators and education workers in mind. Our programme will equip you with awesome resources, useful tools, and an online network to help you build resilience and feel supported — both at work and at home.

What you’ll get access to:

  • Webinars from wellbeing professionals

Our Gold Star webinars are built around topics like self-care, resilience, managing fatigue, and avoiding burnout. These sessions are highly interactive, and explore ideas and experiences specific to your profession. Webinars will be facilitated by a professional counsellor or psychologist from EAP Services.

  • Facebook groups

The Ministry of Education has set up closed Facebook groups for ECE, primary, and secondary education staff for you to join. These groups mean you can feel more connected with education staff across the country and stay in touch with the wider community of kura/school workers.

  • Interactive eLearning modules

Our interactive eLearning modules are custom-built resources made specifically for people in the education sector. Modules will take the form of short learning courses which will help you identify and manage stress, work-life balance, and mental wellbeing. Our eLearning modules will be released once per month.

  • Self-tests to monitor strengths and progress

Our Gold Star self-tests are useful tools to help you keep track of your mental health and wellbeing over time. It can be easy to keep trucking along without realising whether you’re starting to experience signs of burnout or wobbly mental health. Our tests can help you keep track of your own wellbeing.

  • Printable resources for your kura/school

Our printable resources are made for staff rooms and offices at your school or kura. Gold Star posters and pamphlets were created to help you and your colleagues with effective strategies and mindfulness techniques, as well as knowing where to access wellbeing support.

  • Research articles about mental health and wellbeing

Our EAP Services team have sourced useful articles and written resources for our Gold Star members. These articles are chosen with you in mind, to give you a researched perspective on wellbeing in the workplace. Our Gold Star portal will hold links to articles so you can read them at any time.
